Angel Oak at Johns Island in Charleston, SC. Said to be 1400 years old.
Must. Go. See. It!!!
Near my home. Such a majestic tree. It is worth the trip. This picture doesn’t do it justice… It has energy is amazing. Once you are near it it really humbles you and makes you realize how small you are in the world and the power of nature… It looks like something from a fairy tale. The fiddle head, curly like ferns growing off of it are so beautiful too….It is in danger too… They are trying to develop the land 100 yards AROUND the tree and make it a park…. which in reality will probably kill the tree. for cheap pre fab homes or apartments I believe…It already is really close to civilization. there has been a group of people trying to fight to save this tree for a few years now. If you go there go to the little cabin near it which is also a tiny gift shop to get the history of it and donate to help save it.
Well, looks like I have a pilgramage to make.
